Today’s consumers aren’t just fickle, they’re demanding. They expect nothing less than frictionless playback and the ability to pause on one device and resume on another. So from the moment a user opens an app or picks up the remote until they’ve watched five minutes of content, it’s important to monitor as many data points as possible and optimize every part of the journey to limit delays.

As well as making it easy to FIND the right content, you need to consider how easy it is to start playing that content once you’ve chosen it. If there are multiple routes to purchase (TVOD, SVOD, AVOD) then the options have to be crystal clear and the purchase flow needs to be as low effort as possible.

In all these elements, the key is rigorous testing on the widest possible range of models, versions and browsers for your preferred devices. It’s the only way to ensure playback feels easy every time on every device.

Prioritize Stability. Quality matters!

It’s easy to forget that some of the most important parts of user experience are entirely invisible — until they’re absent. After spending money to acquire new viewers, you couldn’t afford to lose them because of avoidable errors like an app that keeps crashing or a poor quality video stream.
